The event aims to raise funds for Debswana's Orapa, Letlhakane, Damtshaa Mine (OLDM) Corporate Social Investment (CSI) program, which will be used to specifically address water scarcity in the Boteti area.
The Cool Down session will take place in the evening after the OLDM’s General Manager(GM’s) walk. Besides headliners Shandesh and Leeckrazy, the event also features an exciting lineup of local and international performers such as Charma Gal, Chokoma, DJ Ngwazi and Han-C, who will perform a range of musical genres to cater to diverse tastes.
The Sdlula or Slender and Ngibolekeni hit makers are expected to bring their unique styles and energy to the stage. In addition to the headlining acts, several DJs from the Boteti region will take to the stage, showcasing their mixing skills and getting the crowd moving.
According to Cool Down Session Coordinator, Scelesto Kesalopa the event is a celebration of music, community and social responsibility.
Kesalopa stated that security will be tight during the event, with local security, Botswana Police Service (BPS) and Debswana security personnel to be engaged to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all attendees. He emphasised that the safety and well-being of attendees are the top priorities as the organisers have taken all necessary measures to ensure a successful event.
Kesalopa shared that over 1,000 tickets have been sold thus far, with a significant increase in sales expected this week. He stated that last year's event sold over 3,000 tickets, and the organisers are hopeful that they will reach a similar target this year.
He also explained that the proceeds from the event will go towards addressing water scarcity in the Boteti area, particularly in Letlhakane and Mmatshumo villages. These villages have experienced rapid population growth and urbanization, putting a strain on the existing water infrastructure. A short-to medium-term sustainable solution to address water scarcity is estimated to cost P10 million, and the funds raised from this event will make a significant contribution towards achieving this goal.
He also encouraged members of the public to attend the event and support the worthy cause.
'This event is not just about music and entertainment; it's about making a difference in our community. Therefore , we encourage everyone to come out and support because together we can make a positive impact in our communities,' he said.
