The event is renowned for its intense battles, electrifying atmosphere, and global reputation for discovering top talent. It continues to shine as a stage where rising stars showcase their skills to an eager crowd. This year’s edition held at Molapo Piazza was no exception, leaving fans buzzing. Dancers battled it out where Malebogo Mabisi better known as ‘Lebo M’ emerged victorious. The dancer, who impressed judges and the crowd with her originality and versatility, will now represent Botswana at the World Red Bull Dance Challenge in the United States this October.
The win comes after she reached the top seven in last year’s competition, marking a triumphant comeback.
Competing in what is often seen as a male-dominated field, Lebo M reflected on the journey.
“It’s not easy as a woman in this space, but what makes the difference is staying authentic. When you are true to yourself and your style, the crowd feels it,” she said.
Looking ahead, she revealed plans to start a training company to mentor young dancers, with a focus on versatility and diversity.
She emphasised the importance of preparing young girls in particular to master different dance styles in order to succeed on international stages like Red Bull.
The competition was fierce, with Michael, also known as Oga, securing second place, while Yarona Tumelo, known as Yaya M, finishing third.
With her victory, Lebo M carries Botswana’s hopes onto the global stage, where her authenticity and determination will be put to the test against the world’s best.
