The team lost by a solitary goal in a match that could have gone either way.

Calendar Stars, who are new to the Premier League, delivered a bold statement and proved their mettle against The Reds with a tactical determination.

Following their 1-0 victory, GU's head coach, Dimitar Pantev, reflected on the opening match of the 2025-2026 Premier League season, acknowledging that they missed numerous scoring opportunities.

Though they dominated the game from start to finish, Pantev admitted that his team made critical mistakes on the field, giving away chances to their opponent.

'We scored and it was possible for us to score many more goals. We just need to collect more points before the international football break. With three or four matches left, we need to secure more points,” he continued.

Pantev expressed confidence in his team's quality and technical competency, stating that they do not feel any pressure to defend their title.

Meanwhile, Calendar Stars coach, Joseph 'Chippa' Mokgacha praised his players for executing their game plan effectively.

'We were waiting for moments to counterattack, knowing we wouldn't have much of the ball possession,' he explained.

Mokgacha highlighted his team's resilience in defence, particularly in the middle of the park where they managed to limit GU's overloads.

'Their overloads were many, even in the middle, but we were resilient enough and gave no space in the middle of the park,' he added.

Mokgacha commended his team's defence and goalkeeping department, noting that they worked hard to avoid a heavy defeat.

'It's a highlight for us to take to our training grounds, and we will see where we can improve, especially in finding the back of the net,' he said.

Mokgacha emphasised that this performance will serve as a valuable learning experience for his team.
