The local company last year pumped P800, 000 into the showpiece but has since added P200, 000 to take their support to P1 million. Speaking at the launch of the sponsorship on Friday, chairperson of the GM Walk Boitumelo Senyane said for the 2025 event, their goal is to raise P6 million to address water challenges in the Boteti region. Luckily when soliciting for support to reach their mission, he said they have landed EH Construction as the main sponsor. “I am happy to announce that this year EH Construction is our diamond sponsor at P1 million. This partnership will go a long way in supporting an initiative that we want to fund through this year’s proceeds,” Senyane said.
Although they managed to enlist EH Construction as their diamond sponsor, he said they are still far from meeting their target and has appealed for more sponsors. “Preparations are going well however we are still short of our P6 million target. I can therefore use this opportunity to appeal to more sponsors to come on board and support this initiative,” added the chairperson. For his part EH Construction director, Anthony Markides, stated that the GM Walk by OLDM is a good concept that aligns with their goals aimed at assisting communities hence why they are part of the event. “Water is life and in Botswana, access to clean and safe water remains one of our most critical challenges. The walk for water project is more than a symbolic march; it is a rallying call to all of us to protect this precious resource,” he said.
As a strategy to protect water and give back to the community, Markides added they saw it befitting to channel the funds towards the walk for a greater good. “Our relationship with Debswana has been marked by a shared vision for social impact. “Just last year we sponsored the GM’s Walk to the tune of P800, 000, a contribution we made knowing it would touch lives and this we have sponsored it with P1 million,” he said.
