Mereyabone explained that Apphia Creations specialises in contemporary fashion that intertwines African heritage with modern aesthetics. She added that the designs emphasise sustainability, utilising natural fabrics to produce timeless pieces that tell a story.

She stated that her clothing line name, Apphia, is derived from a biblical term meaning 'fruitful' or 'productive,' which is also her grandmother’s name.

According to Mereyabone, the Nama encapsulates the brand's mission to create designs that are intentional, meaningful, and rooted in purpose.

She pointed out that her target market comprises individuals who value authenticity, cultural heritage, minimal and sustainable fashion—those seeking garments that resonate with personal and collective narratives.

'My fashion design skills came through formal education at Limkokwing University and practical experience gained from Depearlee designs and Kaylaamiel Creations. Both are designers based in Gaborone. This blend of academic and hands-on learning has shaped my unique design perspective. Fashion design offers a platform for storytelling and cultural expression, aligning with Olaotse's passion for creativity and heritage. It allows me to craft pieces that not only adorn the body but also convey deeper meanings and connections,' she said.

Additionally, she said the public's response has been overwhelmingly positive, with many appreciating the fusion of traditional elements and contemporary design. Speaking of memorable milestones for Apphia Creations, she pointed out that launching its first capsule collection, dubbed Bogare, was the biggest. She explained that it marked not just a design debut, but a reintroduction of the brand—rooted in storytelling, simplicity, and identity.

'Creating Bogare through the Creation Botswana Incubation Programme was a turning point; it reflected everything Apphia stands for: garments with memory, crafted with care, and meant to last. It is a collection that carries the spirit of beginnings and possibility. Challenges I experience include limited access to high-quality materials, navigating market competition, and raising awareness about sustainable fashion practices. Despite these hurdles, I remain committed to my vision and continue to adapt and grow,' she said.

While Apphia Creations is still in its early stages, Mereyabone said the journey so far has been marked by meaningful progress. She said that from developing the first capsule collection to participating in a debut pop-up through the Creation Botswana Incubation Programme, each step helped define the brand’s identity. She added that building a community that resonates with Apphia’s values of memory, craft, and quiet elegance has been a rewarding achievement in itself. She added that the focus now is on growing with intention, gaining visibility, and continuing to design pieces that carry emotional and cultural weight.

'Looking ahead, I envision expanding Apphia Creations' reach both locally and internationally, collaborating with other artists, and continuing to innovate in sustainable fashion. The goal is to establish the brand as a leading voice in culturally conscious design. Outside of fashion, I devote most of my time and energy to building Apphia. At the moment, I do not have other hobbies or side pursuits. This work is deeply personal and all-consuming. It is not just a brand but a reflection of my identity, my values, and my aspirations. Every day is a step toward growing something meaningful, ' she added.

Furthermore, Mereyabone advised aspiring fashion designers to stay true to their vision, embrace continuous learning, and not be afraid to take risks. She said authenticity and perseverance are key to carving out your unique space in the creative world. Moreover, she pointed out that Apphia Creations is more than a fashion label; it is a movement that celebrates heritage, promotes sustainability, and empowers individuals through meaningful design.
