A few days ago, both Rollers and GU announced that they have secured a sponsorship from a betting organisation, Sunbet Botswana.
The announcement comes at a time when both sides are preparing for the upcoming season, with GU also gearing up for a CAF Champions League adventure. For Rollers supporters, the news is somewhat of a form of relief following the departure of last season’s chief financier, Tendani Sebata, who has since joined newbies, Black Lions. Both Rollers and GU have also recently secured the services of Zonetwo Sportswear as technical sponsors. Furthermore, Rollers also announced a partnership with Diagnofirm Medical Laboratories.
To that end, the two giants will this Saturday face off at Gaborone United stadium for the Sunbet Botswana Charity Cup, scheduled to kick off at 3 pm. The tournament will give the two sides an insight into how their squads fare ahead of the new season, which kicks off in two weeks. GU have already made significant signings as they also prepare to face African giants in the Champions League. They have also secured the services of Kamogelo Moloi and Thato Kebue from Orapa United as the team looks to defend its league title. On the other hand, Rollers have not been highly active on the transfer market but have built a solid foundation by extending the contract of experienced Namibian midfielder, Marcel Papama.
