A statement from the Botswana National Sport Commission (BNSC) acting CEO, Makuke Makuku, stated the launch will still be held at the Lobatse Sport Complex.
The postponement comes on the complaints from teacher unions over how the build up to the restoration of school sport in schools was conducted.
The Botswana Teachers Union (BTU) and Botswana Secondary School Teachers Union (BOSETU) stated that they were not consulted about the launch especially that negotiations had not been finalised.
On Monday, Director of Sport at the Ministry of Sport and Arts, Imon Bogosi, called the unions for a meeting which was meant to continue discussions about school sport and arts in government schools.
Sport in schools was suspended in 2019 following a stand-off between teachers and their employer over allowances.
Since then, negotiations for the resumption of the activities have been ongoing.
In 2020, the previous administration set up a Joint Task Team (JTT) which came up with a report with recommendations on the best suitable ways to run and manage school sport.
The JTT carried out a comprehensive review of sports development and competition in schools.
