Mokaragana presenter Girly is hosting her birthday celebration with an event dubbed Girly’s Kwaito & Soul Birthday. The event, themed ‘Pantsulated’, will take place at the Game City Fun Park. It promises to be an unforgettable afternoon of music, fun, and nostalgia. In an interview with Arts&Culture, the 34-year-old said the event will feature an impressive lineup of 30 acts, including Eskimos, MMP Family, Exodus, Mingo Touch, Jacklass Onetym, Kabelo Tiro, and Kagiso Ludo DeKlerk. DJs for the occasion include Dj Dizzo, Nendiyo, Dj Ratie, Banx, Pekay, Veveveh, Benny, Hulk, Vipertm, Whiskey Tha D, DJ Ashanti, De Secret DJS, Baskho BW DJS, and Babe Police.

With a focus on kwaito, soul, and a splash of other genres, Girly’s celebration is set to be a throwback to the '90s, a decade that birthed some of the most iconic music genres in South Africa. Girly, a self-proclaimed kwaito enthusiast, said she organised the event as a way to celebrate her love for the genre and to bring back the memories of the 90s. “I was born in the ‘90s, and it seems like that music has been forgotten,” she says. “People are doing Piano, R’n’B shows and others, so since I like kwaito, splash, and soul, I decided to do this for myself,” she said. She stated that with 30 acts lined up to perform, the event promises to be an event to remember. “Kwaito and soul music fans will have a blast reliving the good old days, while newcomers to the genre will get a chance to experience the magic of the 90s music. Don’t miss out on the fun,” she added. The event will begin at 10 am and end at 11 pm, with an after-party scheduled at Notwane Lifestyle Club to wrap up the celebration in style.
