According to police, the robbery occurred around 10pm near Trans Cash & Carry when the man, who was alone at the time, parked briefly by the roadside.

It was then that the suspects emerged, reportedly threatened him and sped off with his vehicle.

This incident comes amidst a worrying trend of motor vehicle thefts in Mogoditshane, with police confirming a rise in such crimes in recent weeks.

No.13 District Officer Commanding, Senior Superintendent Obusitswe Lokae, confirmed the latest robbery.

He revealed that investigations have been launched in an effort to recover the vehicle and arrest the suspects.

'We have launched a probe to locate the stolen vehicle, the suspects, and bring them to book. Just last week, another vehicle was stolen in Mogoditshane and later found dumped in Tsolamosese, also within Mogoditshane,' said Lokae.

'We suspect that the vehicle might have been used as a getaway car, and we believe a similar situation could happen with this latest case.'

He added that car theft remains a persistent concern in his policing district, with Honda Fit models being the most targeted vehicles.

However, this latest case involving a luxury Jaguar suggests that car thieves may be widening their scope.

Meanwhile, police have appealed to the public to remain vigilant, especially at night and tighten the security of their vehicles whilst parked.
