No.13 District Officer Commanding, Senior Superintendent Obusitswe Lokae, explained the accident occurred at around 11:30pm and involved a single vehicle, a Mazda Demio.
Preliminary investigations suggest that the driver might have lost control of the vehicle, which then overturned.
“The deceased was travelling from Gaborone heading towards Lobatse when the accident happened,” he said.
Lokae added that the man was rushed to Bamalete Lutheran Hospital but was certified dead on arrival by the doctors.
He said at the time of the incident, the deceased had no form of identification on him, making it difficult for the police to notify his next of kin.
“We do not yet know who he is because he did not have any identification in his possession, but he appears to be in his 30s,” Lokae said.
“We are appealing to members of the public who may have a male relative missing since Saturday night to visit the Ramotswa Police Station.”
Investigations into the exact cause of the accident are ongoing.
