The pageantry founder and director, Lebopo Bulayani, stated that suicide or loss of well-being and family disruptions are critical issues that need immediate solutions.
She explained that in most cases individuals do not know how to handle such traumatic experiences.
'This youth organisation holds cultural boot camps yearly for the youth and this time around we are targeting not only the youth but it is also open to all individuals who have dealt with the situations of concern or are victims of either gender-based violence, teenage pregnancy/rape, drug and substance abuse, divorce/widowhood, HIV and AIDS,' she said.
The camp will run from September 26 to 28 at a venue to be announced soon, Bulayani added.
Moreover, the founder stated that their programme targets 100 individuals, thus 20 per category.
Bulayani added that they were also targeting everyone not just Kgatleng residents.
She said they saw it fit to host the boot camp because during their engagement with the youth in different areas they toured, they realised that the problem with how most of local youth's behave was based on circumstances around them or situations at home.
Bulayani further explained that some got to witness their parents fight, argue, go through painful situations and in turn they resort to drugs or even become bullies trying to defend themselves against the world's cruelty. The convenor added that as it is a norm, there are things that cannot be discussed with parents but she said it is now the time for the community to come together to talk and let all out.
'This will be an eventful weekend as the 10th Miss Independence Kgatleng will be held on Saturday (September 27, 2025) and this will come as a form of entertainment to the camp attendees as the pageant will be held at the same venue.
'Our 10 former kings and queens will be showcasing their culture and identity through the art of pageantry under the Theme: Reliving my Culture and Identity which will also serve as a reminder of who we really are as Batswana and what we stand for, as well as getting the youth interested in our culture which is the most important aspect of this organisation,' she said.
'We are looking for any kind of support towards this event, we need venue, tents, food for attendees and already in talks with facilitators who will lead in different categories or sub camps.'
