In a recent interview with Moseki Monnayanoka, who is the Social Studies teacher and the fundraising committee chairperson at the school, he said that they need all the support they can get to raise funds for their school's prize giving.
“I happen to have friends who are mostly Congolese, so we joined hands to raise funds for the school as part of their corporate social responsibility (CSR), as a way of thanking Batswana for having stayed in Botswana for quite some time now and Botswana has been very good to them,” Monnayanoka explained.
He further said that the artists that will be part of the event are Kapenda Katuta, Alfred Mos & Africa Sounds, Dipoko & Sweet Melodies and Congolese ensemble. Ronnie Katuuo will be the host for the evening. He mentioned that the price for entry will be P100 per person and students will not be allowed to attend the event.
“Let it be known that all these artists are doing this generosity as part of their CSR, that's why they don’t get anything from the proceedings,” emphasised Monnayanoka. He said the school is forever grateful for that.
Adding to that, he said that the school had a lot of activities lined up in an attempt to reach a target of P32,500. He mentioned that this event will be the second event, following a student variety show which was held at the school earlier this year. He further said the next event will be a 10-kilometre sponsored walk with a Member of Parliament for Francistown South, Wynter Mmolotsi, in Gabane. The last event will be in September, held on the school grounds, he added.
He highlighted that they have written many letters and knocked on many doors in an attempt to ask for sponsorship. He further emphasised that the deadline for the fundraiser is before 25 September 2025, which is the set date for the school's prize giving, along with a black tie event on 26 September. 2025, where teachers will also be celebrated and awarded for their good work and efforts. `
He concluded by stating that through people and the media, they hope to reach a larger audience and ultimately, reach their target amount.
