The incident was confirmed by No.13 District Officer Commanding, Senior Superintendent Obusitswe Lokae, who said the robbery took place around 6:30pm.

“It is alleged that a group of about six young men pounced on attendees at the party, ordered them to lie down whilst threatening them with machetes and knives, and demanded their phones before fleeing the scene,” he said.

Lokae added that the suspects are still at large, but police investigations are ongoing to track them down.

Meanwhile, the district chief urged members of the public to be extra vigilant about their personal security, especially during the winter season when it gets dark earlier.

He warned that it appears there is a group of young men roaming the streets of Greater Gaborone, targeting unsuspecting individuals for robbery.

Lokae stressed the importance of remaining alert and cautious at all times to avoid falling victim to such attacks.
