The man, along with an accomplice who is still on the run, allegedly broke into a home in the early hours of the morning and attacked a 47-year-old woman and her 23-year-old daughter whilst they were asleep.
Confirming the incident, No.13 District Officer Commanding, Senior Superintendent Obusitswe Lokae, said the suspects threatened the victims with knives, demanding money and mobile phones.
'The robbery occurred around 5:30am. The woman managed to scream for help, prompting neighbours to rush to the scene. A 25-year-old man who responded to the call was injured during the confrontation,' Lokae said.
He added that the young man managed to catch one of the suspects despite being injured.
'It is alleged that other villagers quickly joined in and severely assaulted the suspect. He was beaten to a pulp and is currently hospitalised at PMH in critical condition,' he said.
Meanwhile, Lokae said the second suspect managed to flee the scene with the victims' mobile phones and police have since launched a manhunt to locate and arrest him.
Lokae warned the public against taking the law into their own hands.
'We understand the anger that comes with crime, but mob justice is unlawful and dangerous. We encourage communities to apprehend suspects and immediately hand them over to the police. Investigations into the robbery are ongoing,' he said.
