Tebogo resumes Diamond League action

The star athlete makes a comeback after a short break following a recurring injury that saw him pull out of the men’s 200m at the Morocco Diamond League in May. With only two months remaining before the World Athletics Championships, Tebogo is expected to use the event to gauge his form. He will resume his rivalry against Olympic silver medallist, Kenneth Bednarek from the United States of America. Bednarek pulled a shocker when he won the Diamond League 2024 final, although Tebogo had notched up five wins in a row in the build-up to the final.
Tebogo will book himself a place in the final after picking a win clocking 20.10s at the Doha Diamond League in May. Other athletes to compete in the line up are Joseph Fahnbulleh (Liberia), Robert Gregory (USA), Kyree King (USA), Bryan Levell (Jamaica), Courtney Lindsey (USA), Alexander Ogando (Domican Republic), and Jereem Richards from Trinidad and Tobago. Coach Kebonyemodisa ‘Dose’ Mosimanyane confirmed Tebogo's return to competition, which will be his first race since the May injury. “He is coming from injury and still nursing. It is just to get the body going again and gradually build momentum with caution. There is no pressure, finishing healthy will be great,” he said. Mosimanyane said the main instruction for Tebogo is that there is no pressure. The WANDA Diamond League final will be held on August 27 and 28 in Zurich, Switzerland.
