“The vehicle had four occupants, including the driver. The three passengers, aged between 25 and 35, sustained only minor injuries. They were treated at Bamalete Lutheran Hospital and released the same night,” he said.

According to Lokae, preliminary findings suggest the driver lost control of the compact hatchback as it approached the flyover.

“We are still investigating the exact cause, but our initial assessment points to a possible loss of control before the car mounted the pavement and overturned,” he added.

Emergency responders rushed the injured to Bamalete Lutheran Hospital, where doctors confirmed the driver dead on arrival. His name is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.

Lokae urged motorists travelling along the A1 corridor, which funnels heavy nighttime traffic between Gaborone and Lobatse, to exercise caution.

“Excess speed, fatigue, and inattention remain the leading contributors to serious crashes in this stretch. Please slow down and avoid driving whilst tired,' he cautioned.
