Bet-fam Group sets up medical distribution warehouse in Maun

. The development comes following the approval of funding by Citizen Entrepreneurial Development Agency (CEDA). The warehouse brings the number of CEDA-backed projects under Bet-fam Group to two with the first loan having had supported a retail facility, while the second was directed toward logistical infrastructure. Bet-fam Group continues to manage both operations from within Maun under the direct supervision of its founder and pharmacist. The company was officially registered on February 18, 2021 and it is owned and managed by Betangpelo F. Memo, who also serves as the resident pharmacist. According to the business owner, they first got capital injection from CEDA in July 2022 when they received a P417,100 loan from the development financial institution which was used to establish a community pharmacy in Maun.

The chemist's shop became operational with Memo overseeing its daily functions, including dispensing and stock management. According to available records, the pharmacy currently operates with a total staff complement of seven people. The owners revealed that in 2024, their company received a second CEDA loan amounting to P1,191,100 which was allocated towards the establishment of the pharmaceutical warehouse and distribution facility, also situated in the tourism hotspot of Maun. Memo says the motivation behind setting up the warehouse stemmed from the challenges related to the availability of medicine and turnaround times for pharmaceutical supplies in the village. “There have been cases where medical stock arrives late or becomes unavailable for extended periods,” she explained. “With a warehouse based here, we expect to improve access and reduce waiting times.” Already the warehouse is functional alongside the pharmacy although the capacity of the facility or how much volumes are handled was not disclosed by the time BusinessMonitor visited.

Currently, the company has not expanded operations beyond Maun, nor additional branches or facilities have been reported to be on the pipeline. Equally, there is no indication at this stage of any plans to increase the workforce or expand operations to other regions. The company’s activities remain limited to pharmaceutical services, with no diversification into other sectors.
