Ramhago, aged 38, was found deceased in her bedroom with both her hands and legs tied behind back and her mouth gagged with a cloth. Her 18-month-old child was found beside her lifeless body unharmed.

The murder suspects in her demise have been identified as Fanes Manyewe, her Zimbabwean helper, and Adriano Caetano, a Mozambican national.

They had made away with her car amongst other goods, which have since been recovered, police confirmed. Speculation had gathered pace that the suspects killed the mother for her loan but police say the motive of the attack is unbeknownst to them.

The two suspects remain at large whilst police launched an active search for them.

Bracing the chilly weather in Molapowabojang, where she was laid to rest, family and friends described her passing as a thief of joy that has left them with questions more than answers.

The deceased's sister, Kedidimetse Ramhago, said her sibling's passing was a painful one more so that it was sudden.

“Our parents received a call on Thursday that Veronicah was attacked in her home but they called us to rush there with my brother, Tebogo. When we got there we met with Security Systems who told us that our sister is no more,” she said whilst sobbing.

Kedidimetse further said luckily to the perpetrators to the slain, they pressed an emergency button when they left the crime scene, which then allowed Security Systems personnel’s rush to the scene in time.

“We found Security Systems with the young child about to rush her child to the hospital and they told us luckily the criminals hit the emergency button because had they not, we wouldn’t know where our sister is now,” she said.

On details into what could have led to the domestic helper turning against one person who gave her a job, Kedidimetse said they are in the dark just like everybody else.

“Our elders, we don’t really have much to say on what transpired. What we can only tell you what the police officers told us and Security Systems as well as health officials. That is how short it is,” she said.

Kedidimetse said they were told that Ramhago was killed by the cloths that were put in her mouth that led to her shortness of breath, which eventually led to her passing.

Boitumelo Itumeleng, who could barely speak, said in a breaking voice that she is struggling to come to terms with her friend’s passing. Itumeleng said to the best of her knowledge, Ramhago was at her home village (Molapowabojang) with the suspected helper, Manyewe, as they had become like family.

“Veronicah was my dear friend. We grew up together and that other week, I was with her before her passing. We caught up. She came with the helper and her child and introduced her to us,” she recalled.

Itumeleng said that was the last time she saw her friend with the suspect as they headed back to Ramotswa after their short stay at Molapowabojang.
