Orange spends P2.5m on 6th edition

. The curtain falls on Season 6 tonight with defending champions, Jwaneng Galaxy, taking on Security Systems at the National Stadium. Orange Botswana wholesale manager, Donald Joseph said as the sponsorship curtain falls on the knockout competition, the company has committed a considerable budget. “We have proudly invested over P2.5 million in this year’s edition alone supporting not only the prize pool but the entire machinery of football from logistics to promotion, grassroots engagements and in live broadcasting to bring to people,” Joseph said.

Breaking down the costs, Orange Botswana public relations officer, Tebogo Nadisah said the champions of the FA cup would get the largest share of the P2.5 million that has been spent towards the cup. “Orange believes in rewarding excellence at every level and also at an individual level. We are proud to announce that a whopping P800, 000 will go to the champions whereas the runners up will walk away with P400, 000,” she revealed. Nadisah further said from the P2.5 million, P180, 000 has been set aside for individual prizes. The Player of the Tournament will walk away with P50, 000 while the top Goal Scorer will be rewarded with P30, 000. The Goalkeeper of the Tournament will receive P20, 000, the same amount as the coach of the tournament. Unlike most tournaments, Nadisah said referees also will be rewarded for an outstanding performances while officiating the games.

“The Referee of the Tournament will be rewarded with P20, 000, a strong reminder that a game cannot be played without fairness and order. The Assistant Referee of the Tournament will equally get P20, 000 indicating the precision and consistence of their job,” she said. The last category is the Supporter’s Players of the Tournament, which carries a prize money of P20, 000. The supporters will vote for the player. She highlighted that the award ceremony marks a proud moment for every individual for their impeccable contribution to make the FA Cup a great success. “These awards represent more than just monetary value, they are a symbol of recognition, motivation and encouragement. We want to encourage that their work does not go unnoticed,” Nadisah said.
