The early Saturday morning tragic death is being investigated by police in Mogoditshane. The deceased was killed whilst on a visit to his 26-year-old girlfriend, who is a resident of Tsolamosese.

Police said the person who lodged the report told officers the deceased and his partner were walking home from a local entertainment spot at around 2am when the victim met his fate.

As the two were walking home, they met two men who subsequently attacked and assaulted the deceased, Mogoditshane Police Station commander, Superintendent Mbiganyi Letsholathebe said.

He said the girlfriend said she was familiar with the suspects because they also reside in Tsolamosese.

'She said they pounced on him in an attack, assaulted him, and during the tussle one of them took out a knife and stabbed him to death.

'She managed to escape, woke up nearby residents who helped her to report the matter to the police,' Letsholathebe told The Monitor.

He said they managed to arrest one of the suspects, a 31-year-old man who is also a resident in the peri-urban location, and slapped him with a murder charge.

Letsholathebe said efforts are in place to locate and arrest the second suspect who is still on the run.

'Investigations into the matter are ongoing to establish what the fight was all about. The arrested suspect is likely to appear before court to face a single count of murder anytime this week,' he said.
