He makes a return to the music scene almost a decade later after his first single. In an interview with Arts&Culture, he explained that the name of the song comes from the Setswana saying “Go disana pedi”, meaning there is a problem. “Disana pedi was released early May. I composed the song and featured Uth ThaMeek. The song was produced at X808X Records in Gabane by Maatla Thapalalo. Throughout my career, I have released two singles so far Monwana le lenala and Disana Pedi,” explained Boefelo. Boefelo first made his music debut in 2016, with a single titled, Monwana le lenala in which he featured Vavo Pound.
He says he is already working on another project, which will be released soon, called Ngwetsi. The single will be included on his upcoming album, which is scheduled for release this year. Boefelo explained that he tried to record an album in the past, but things did not go well and he decided to focus on poetry and publishing books. However, he believes the time is right for him to make a return to the music scene. Furthermore, Boefelo pointed out that as artists, they face financial challenges to push their work to higher levels, and platforms are limited to allow artists to reach their goals. However, he says he is ambitious to reach greater heights in the music industry.
He said his success in other aspects of life gives him the confidence that he can make it in the music space. “I see myself far in the next five years. I do various forms of art and the music genre that I do, which is Afro folk (spoken word music/storytelling), is not yet populated. The competition is not yet high, so I have a chance to carve a niche and excel,” he added. Boefelo believes that for artists to succeed, they should take art as a lifestyle and never give up until they reach their goals. He added that profits or achievements would not just come overnight, urging youngsters to exercise patience, work hard and have dedication.
