Appearing before Extension II Magistrate's Court, 18 year old Bame Tshupetso was arraigned before Magistrate Kaveri Kapeko. It is alleged that the teenage girl this past Sunday at Maruapuala in Gaborone unlawfully wounded her boyfriend Thuso Raokgwathile.

The state prosecutor Modisaotsile Seratswe told court that Raokgwathile was stabbed with a black kitchen knife.

In addition, Seratswe further told court that the victim is currently fighting for his life at Princess Marina Hospital.

“The victim is at Mariana in Intensive Care Unit (ICU) battling for his life due to the injury he sustained on his neck,” Seratswe said.

With the victim currently fighting for his life in ICU, Seratswe moved an application that the teenage be further remanded in custody.

“We are applying that the accused be remanded in custody because the victim is still at the hospital. So this is to protect him because his life is under threat, bail can only be disccussed when is discharged from the hospital,” the state said.

Magistrate Kapeko acceded to the state’s plea of further remanding the accused in custody, agreeing that it will only be discussed once the victim is out of the woods.

The accused is set to return to court on June 12 for a status update. The case continues.
