This defiance comes despite Extension II Magistrate's Court issuing a court order compelling him to comply.
When appearing before court, State Prosecutor Simon Galebonwe stated that efforts by the investigating officer to draw blood from the accused have been futile.
“As per the court instructions on our last mention, we tried to extract blood from the accused but he refused to do so like he always does,” Galebonwe said.
In previous court appearance, Loeto always bemoaned that he is hell- bent against providing blood sample because the police are doing a shoddy job, as there are no consent forms.
However, Galebonwe this time around stated that everything was in place, there were consent forms for the accused to sign and provide his blood sample but he did not follow through.
Posed a question by the presiding Magistrate Keabetswe Majuta, Loeto was asked what led him to refuse to be extracted blood for DNA profiling which could prove his innocence.
In his response, Loeto said that he is not willing to do that because his blood will be compared to other cases he has no idea of.
“I am against providing my blood because the officers want to test my blood against other cases that I am not implicated in and I do not know off as they suspect that I am involved in 20 cases,” he said.
With the accused hell-bent against providing his blood sample for DNA profiling, Magistrate Majuta is set to deliver a ruling on what the next step for Loeto is after defying the court order.
Loeto is suspected to be a serial rapist involving 20 rape cases that were reported in Ramotswa as they occurred in the same manner. Currently, he is facing three rape charges.
The DNA profiling by the State is set to determine if he is the man they have been looking for.
The case continues on June 4.
