The report was made by a 38-year-old woman who had received a phone call from Boro 2 Lands being notified about the tragedy. Maun police team has since launched a probe to establish what transpired.

'It is alleged that the old man had left home around 5pm, heading to the farm, and in the process he was also going to look for his donkeys. Later in the evening, those who were home heard an elephant screaming from the side of the farm,' Lepodise explained.

'They went to the farm to look for the old man, searched the area up until night when they found the old man lying motionless with head injuries and elephant footprints beside him.'

He said after receiving the report, the police rushed to the scene, took the old man to Letsholathebe Memorial Hospital where he was certified dead on arrival by the doctors.

Following the incident, Lepodise has asked members of the public to be cautious especially when they are at the farmlands because the area is still bushy, hence making it difficult to spot dangerous wild animals from a distance.
