Systems now in nine-goal hunt

Systems are not going down without a fight, but will need nothing less than nine goals in the final league game in order to stand a chance of survival. As it stands, their survival chance hangs by a thread. They are currently sitting at position 14.
They have a 15-goal deficit as compared to the 13th placed BDF XI's six. Systems will need BDF XI to lose their final league game while they will need to win 9-0 in theirs. Although the mission appears impossible, what happened in the past weekend could be reason enough to believe that Systems might just pull a rabbit out of the hat and ensure survival. The Alarm Boys beat relegated Chadibe FC 7-1 in a league game played at Lobatse Sports Complex.
The technical bench had admitted mid- way through the season that the team is plunged into the relegation battle because of a misfiring front line. Before the previous round of games, Systems had found the back of the net on 20 occasions in 28 games, averaging to a low 0.7 goals per game. The team had also failed to score in 13 of the 28 games before the last Saturday.
The Alarm Boys are hoping for a final day high scoreline against another relegated opponent in Flamengo Santos. Systems will be pleased to face the poorest defence in the league as Santos conceded on 64 occasions this season. The team conceded just over two goals each and let in five or more goals on three occasions this season. Santos have just come from a 3-1 defeat over the weekend and Systems should be worried that their opponent are not the one to go down without a fight.
Systems cannot afford to let in a single goal in their nine goal quest. Santos scored in 13 games this season despite losing 21 times. BDF XI just need a draw against Matebele FC to ensure they stay in the top flight for another season.
