Gaborone United (GU) sealed the title on Saturday afternoon with one round of matches left to play.
Matjimenyenga's hopes of winning the trophy were diminished following their 1-1 draw with Morupule Wanderers last Wednesday. Elias Chinyemba is however pleased with the team's overall performance this season. Chinyemba expressed his satisfaction with the players and fans' support. He mentioned how the players were a little slow in the first half of the match against the Extension Gunners, but staged a fantastic comeback in the second half. 'We found it difficult to hold our opponents, particularly in the midfield because they attacked frequently,' Chinyemba said.
With only one game left against Nico United, Chinyemba is optimistic that they will retain the second position on the log standings. Extension Gunners coach, Tshepo Motlhabankwe said they are hoping to win their last game. “Unfortunately we lost, but we wanted to finish in a better position because there is Nico United and BDF XI behind us,” he said.
