Founded by Pono Seemane, a Limkokwing University graduate, the company is built on a foundation of authentic storytelling, with a focus on elevating local narratives in both visual and digital media. Seemane, a filmmaker and content creator, launched PMN with a clear goal; to offer media services that are not only high-quality but also grounded in the local context. In an interview with Arts&Culture, he explained that the idea behind PMN is simple; they wanted to tell stories that matter, stories that reflect communities, people, and the issues they care about. Since its inception, PMN has specialised in a range of services including film production, social media management, content creation, and brand identity development. “The company has worked with a variety of clients ranging from corporate institutions and NGOs to individual creatives such as musicians and startup businesses. In addition to creating short films and documentaries, PMN’s work also includes event coverage, social media marketing, graphic design, and digital advertising strategies,” he stated.
One of the company’s significant achievements has been its involvement in the production of the Diamond Runners documentary, which showcases Botswana’s long-distance runners striving to make their mark internationally. Despite the resource constraints that come with working in a developing media landscape, Seemane has managed to maintain a focus on quality and integrity for every project. “Our team may not always have the most advanced equipment, but we use what we have to tell stories that resonate,” he explains. “It’s not just about having the best resources, it’s about using creativity and dedication to make meaningful work,” he stated. The company’s creative process starts with understanding the client’s goals and vision. Once aligned, the PMN team moves through the stages of brainstorming, scripting, production, and post-production, always ensuring clear communication and maintaining creative integrity. Seemane said the approach is what differentiates PMN from other media companies in the region. “We want our work to feel personal and real,” Seemane notes.
“Each project is treated as an opportunity to engage the audience, to make them feel something. Whether it’s a social media campaign or a documentary, the goal is the same, to tell stories that matter,” he said. While PMN’s target audience is largely young adults aged 18 to 34, interested in lifestyle, entertainment, and pop culture, the company also serves niche sectors such as healthcare, technology, and travel. The work produced by PMN often appears across various digital platforms such as Instagram, YouTube, and TikTok, allowing the company to reach a wider audience both locally and internationally. Looking ahead, Seemane has clear aspirations for PMN’s future growth. “We want to expand into film and television production, and also build a network of content creators in Southern Africa,” he said, adding, “But most importantly, we want to continue to deliver authentic work that speaks to the needs of our communities,” he stated.
