Anicia Gaothusi jets off to Miss World

The Miss World event will be hosted in Telangana, India from May 7 with the grand finale on May 31. Gaothusi will join over 180 contestants from across the globe. According to a press release from Miss Botswana organisation, Gaothusi’s journey follows that of her illustrious predecessor, Lesego Chombo who made history in 2024 as Miss World Africa and now serves as the Minister of Youth and Gender Affairs. “Building up that legacy, Gaothusi is determined to raise the Botswana flag even higher and showcase the nation’s spirit of resilience, compassion and leadership on a global platform,” said the statement.

Her Beauty With A Purpose project, LIGHTS, focuses on providing Basic First Aid and Emergency Response education across communities in Botswana. It is an initiative inspired by her grandmother, a dedicated nurse. Through this project, Gaothusi is championing access to essential health knowledge, especially in underserved areas. The statement continues: “The Miss World Festival promises a robust programme of fast-track events including Head-To-Head Challenges, Sports, Talent, Top Model and the internationally acclaimed Beauty With A Purpose showcase. Gaothusi is expected to compete in all categories with Botswana’s core values of humility, excellence, and integrity at the forefront.” The Miss World Botswana Organisation also said it is pleased with Batswana for supporting Gaothusi in her journey throughout the competition.
