The Toro music festival is set to be held at the Royal Aria Stadium, Tlokweng. In an exclusive interview with Arts& Culture online, Chokoma revealed the big secret that he will be dropping his first EP of the year, Toro. Chokoma also expressed excitement over dropping his EP, explaining that a lot of work was put into the project, which has seen him bag collaborations with an artist from outside Botswana. “I will be dropping an EP tomorrow and it is really great. In all honesty, people can just expect fireworks from it. It is a six-song EP that really tells a story,” he said. He said that in his new EP, he has featured celebrated Lesotho artist who is based in South Africa, Wave Rhyder. “In this EP I have really featured great artists. I have Wave Rhyder in one song and this is one song that people have to really look out for immediately once I drop the project,” he said.
The YAMA award nominee also stated that he has featured the local rising talent, Ey Brizzy who dropped a song with Han C a few months ago named, Boitumelo, that topped the charts. “Ey Brizzy is featured in the EP too. This is one of the great talents that we really have in the country and he is really versatile with his craft. I’m telling you this is the next artist that people should be on the lookout for,” Chokoma said. He highlighted that people can stream his EP tomorrow once it drops from YouTube while other digital streaming platforms Spotify and iTunes will be dropped later. Regarding preparations for the show, Chokoma stated that everything is right on track and he cannot wait to blow people away on Saturday at his one man show. “Preparations have really been going well. We have not really encountered so much challenges; we cannot wait for the day where people will get to enjoy only local music,” Chokoma said.
Tickets for the event are selling for P100 early bird, P150 standard and P200 at the gate.
