The fire severely damaged a section of a 100-man barrack block designated for personnel stationed at the Donga Base Camp. Both the BDF Fire Unit and the City of Francistown Council Fire Department promptly responded to the situation, successfully containing the fire and preventing its spread to adjacent barracks. Fortunately, no casualties have been reported; however, the incident has resulted in the destruction of personal belongings belonging to the affected occupants.

The BDF is currently taking measures to provide assistance and to relocate the soldiers impacted by this incident to alternative accommodation facilities. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, and we will continue to monitor the situation closely as inquiries progress.
