Seema ascended to the chairmanship seat over the weekend following an elective general assembly held at Majestic Five Hotel. He was elected the chairperson after garnering 146 votes to beat Thuso Nkate who got 88 votes and Mosweu Modisana's four, whilst the incumbent, Moeti Mooketsi, received only 15 votes. “Trust is the foundation of any strong organisation and over time, it must be nurtured, protected, and when necessary, restored. You have entrusted us with this responsibility, and I don't take it lightly,” said Seema following his victory.
He further seeks to rebuild membership confidence in the BOFUS leadership. In addition, Seema aims to strengthen accountability and enhance engagement whilst delivering on promises.
“I invite each of you to be part of this journey. The strength of BOFUS lies in its members, and together, we will restore trust, uphold our values, and build a legacy that future generations can be proud of,” he said.
In the executive committee elections, Kabelo Lecha beat Goaletsa Ngenda to become the new vice chairperson. Gosaboelweng Moteu was elected the new board secretary over Kgabung Chepete whilst Hendricks Albert retained the treasurer seat against Lazarus Moremi.
Mirriam Mashaba is the new publicity secretary, ousting incumbent, Oteng Malope, whilst Moses Molelowatladi retained the secretary for recruitment and retention seat against Kabo Nametso. On the other hand, Julia Hakamo was elected as the secretary for gender over Dolly Seitei.
BOFUS was, meanwhile, advised to seek new partnerships and new territories to invest in a bid to boost returns, while ensuring sustainability in the market.
This was said by Old Mutual Botswana group CEO, Prisicillah Ndadi, during the congress held under the theme, 'Stakeholder Collaboration to Enhance Client Value and Customer Support'.
Ndadi said collaboration was a key step towards cultivating value-added solutions to the client’s needs. She said collaboration aids in driving profitable and sustainable business entities.
“I would like you, as you move forward in your new chapter as a scheme to always have collaboration at the centre of everything that you do,” she said.
