The sports betting and gaming brand, which officially launched in Botswana after receiving its licence from the Gambling Authority in October, has experienced a sharp rise in registrations.

Just two weeks ago, the platform paid out two of its biggest winnings yet, P87,000 and P93,000, whilst last week’s highest payout reached P27,000.

Betway Botswana officials said the enthusiastic response highlights the growing popularity of online gaming and betting in the country.

Players have shown interest in the platform’s wide range of offerings, which now extend beyond sports betting to include online casino games such as slots and scratch cards.

“Our launch in Botswana has been met with a warm reception. We are excited to see how quickly Batswana have adapted to our platform,” Betway Botswana Country Manager, Michelle France-Mabiletsa said.

“This response not only reflects strong demand but also trust in the Betway brand.”

Betway Botswana currently allows deposits and withdrawals through Orange Money and MyZaka, with integration efforts underway to include BTC’s Smega and commercial banks.

The expansion of payment options is aimed at improving access and convenience for users across the country.

To further engage the local market, Betway has introduced the Bet Influencer programme. This initiative allows individuals to earn a percentage of the winnings generated from their shared betting slips every Friday.

By leveraging social media, users can turn their networks into income-generating channels whilst participating in the betting ecosystem.

In addition to enhancing its product range, Betway Botswana is actively pursuing corporate social investment projects.

Whilst specific initiatives are yet to be announced, the company has committed to supporting community-driven efforts and promoting responsible betting practices.

It has aligned its operations with Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles to ensure that its presence in Botswana contributes positively to the local economy and social landscape.

As one of the first sports betting brands to receive a local licence, Betway has pledged to operate within the legal framework and uphold regulatory standards.

The company believes that its entrance into the market isn't only a business milestone but also a contribution to Botswana’s economic diversification goals.

“Our focus goes beyond entertainment. We aim to create sustainable value, introduce innovative experiences, and build a betting industry that supports growth, jobs, and income generation,” France-Mabiletsa added.
