The accident occurred on Saturday around 8pm along the A10 road.

Mogoditshane Police Station commander, Superintendent Mbiganyi Letsholathebe confirmed investigation into the accident.

He said the 21-year-old Zimbabwean woman was trying to cross the road when she was hit by a VW Jetta.

'She was rushed to Lesirane clinic and later referred to Princess Marina (Referral) Hospital where she is currently hospitalised for medical care.

'She had sustained serious head injuries,' Letsholathebe said.

He further stated that a 67-year-old Zimbabwean man was behind the wheel of the vehicle involved.

'Tests were carried out and the driver's alcohol level came out negative. However, he has been charged with causing bodily harm with careless driving and investigations into the matter are ongoing,' Letsholathebe said.

'I'm pleading with motorists to be cautious of pedestrians, especially around malls where there is a lot of movement. Additionally, I'm pleading with pedestrians to pay attention to road signs, flow of traffic, and vehicle's speed whilst attempting to cross the road because we continue to record accidents involving pedestrians which sometimes turn fatal.'
