The event, which is meant to celebrate Franco’s musical journey spanning over two decades, will be held on Saturday at the Fora Farm. With the festival being one of the few that prides itself with an all-local line-up, the musician has assembled a mix of hard-hitters and upcoming artists. The event will feature artists such as Culture Spears, Vee Mampeezy, DJ LaTimmy, Han C, Slizer, Juu Matere and Oscar Chakabuya, to mention but just a few. After being first held in 2022, the event has become one of the most anticipated shows south of Dibete, especially in the first quarter of the year. Franco told Arts&Culture that everything is set for this year’s edition. He said despite challenges along the year, the event has continued to grow every year.
He expressed gratitude to his legion of fans that have supported his music career since he first burst onto the scene in 2021 with his sizzling album, Ke lela le lona. “The event has grown over the years, although we still struggle to get sponsorships. It is among the biggest shows locally, especially at this time of the year. And this is all thanks to my supporters who have stuck with me through thick and thin. I remain indebted to their unwavering support,” said Franco. The Sephiri se dule hit maker further said the decision to move the event to Fora Farm permanently has contributed to its continuity as it was not easy to find suitable venues in the city due to high costs. “This has also allowed me to be closer to my supporters. The people who resonate with my music are out there, so I get to give them the chance to see me perform near them. So I expect them to come in numbers and continue their support,” he added.
Furthermore, Franco explained that they will continue to use the event to promote local musicians who struggle to break into the industry. “Soul Fill Up with Franco has branded itself as one of the biggest music festivals in the country which give local artists the chance to showcase their talent. This is an affirmative action that we will not change. 'We also want to give back to Batswana as we will also engage different service providers for this event,” he said. With a long list of hits, Franco says he plans to make the day memorable for his followers.
