'Chief spoilers' Wanderers after Galaxy

A month later, Wanderers downed Township Rollers 3-1 at home in a game the Blues needed to increase their advantage at the top of the log. This Saturday afternoon, the FNB Premiership's acclaimed spoilers will look to dim the shining Galaxy Stars as the two teams clash at the Palapye Stadium. Despite the might of their opponents, Wanderers would enter the fray with their tails high on Saturday. The team has lost only once in a 10-match run and that was against Orapa United. The defeat against the miners was their only at home in 10 games.
Wanderers set themselves as serious campaigners as they are unbeaten in the last three games whilst they also recorded a single defeat since the start of the second round of the campaign. Despite their impressive run, Wanderers have only won twice in the last five games and played to a draw in a further two more games as the Orapa defeat spoiled their unbeaten spell. The team has recorded wins against each of the four sides challenging for the title with the exception of TAFIC and their weekend's opponents, Galaxy. In the first round fixture, Galaxy beat Wanderers 1-0 at the Galaxy Stadium. The champions are in better shape than the December tie as a number of key players including goalkeeper Goitseone Phoko and influential midfielder are regaining their fitness. Galaxy's unbeaten 22 games run is a stern warning to opponents and Wanderers would be worried. The champions are, however, not getting maximum points as often as they should be in a tight title race. Galaxy, in a 10 games run, have played to five draws whilst finding the back of the net on 14 occasions, presenting a lower goal return than their fellow title chasers.
The Wanderers-Galaxy tie has in one tie of the nine meetings failed to produce a winner as Galaxy dominated their opponents. Galaxy have beaten Wanderers on eight occasions since their first meeting in the 2019-2020 season.
The home side will bite their lower lip in an effort to get one over Galaxy for the first time in history. This weekend's FNB Premiership action will see giants cross to the north of Dibete as the battle for spots both at the top and bottom remains tight. Third-placed GU visit Orapa United at the Itekeng Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Relegation-threatened BDF XI and Flamengo Santos battle it out at the Royal Aria Stadium whilst Sua Flamingoes welcome Mochudi Centre Chiefs at Itekeng Stadium in a mouth-watering contest. The Lobatse Sports Complex will host a tie between Extension Gunners and Matebele whilst Rollers are in a desperate chase for three points away to Nico United at the Sam Sono Stadium. TAFIC will in a late 8pm kick off, take on neighbours, Chadibe FC at the Obed Itani Chilume Stadium. The only fixture on Sunday pairs VTM FC against Security Systems at the VTM Arena. All the afternoon games will kick off at 3.30pm.
