The newly launched shop offers amongst others e-SIM activation, SIM swaps and registration, Orange Money transactions, mobile and fixed data services and device sales. It operates from 6am to 10pm daily which is designed to accommodate travellers arriving at various times, eliminating delays in accessing mobile services. Orange Botswana CEO, Néné Maïga, said the shop’s establishment is part of the company’s broader efforts to enhance customer convenience. She highlighted the importance of ensuring that visitors and citizens alike can access mobile services without hassle upon arrival.

Maïga noted that as the country’s largest airport, SSKIA is a strategic location for the company to improve accessibility and reinforce its role in Botswana’s telecommunications sector. At the launch event, the CEO emphasised the company’s commitment to eliminating barriers that travellers may face in securing connectivity. She said by providing essential services at the airport allows Orange Botswana to meet the needs of customers who require instant access to mobile communication. She added that seamless connectivity is crucial for visitors who need to stay in touch with family, business travellers who require a reliable network, and tourists who depend on internet access for navigation and communication. Equally, it was revealed that the decision to establish a presence at SSKIA aligns with Orange Botswana’s strategy to drive digital transformation and improve infrastructure to meet consumer demands. ‘The company continues to invest in expanding its service network, ensuring that customers have access to efficient and reliable telecommunications solutions wherever they are.’ The launch of the airport shop is seen as a step toward strengthening Orange Botswana’s position in the market by improving service delivery and customer engagement.

The shop’s performance will be evaluated based on customer demand and interaction, helping the company assess the effectiveness of this initiative. ‘By closely monitoring customer engagement, Orange Botswana aims to understand the needs of travellers and refine its approach to service delivery.’ The company believes that this new outlet will contribute to enhancing Botswana’s digital landscape whilst supporting both personal and business communication needs. With immediate access to Orange Botswana’s services, travellers arriving at SSKIA will no longer face difficulties in obtaining SIM cards, activating e-SIMs, or accessing mobile data. This initiative ensures that visitors and locals alike can stay connected from the moment they step into the country. The launch of the new shop marks another milestone in Orange Botswana’s ongoing efforts to provide reliable telecommunications services and expand customer access to mobile solutions.
