Speaking on the matter, which has been making rounds since BDP lost elections, Morwaeng defended the former cabinet, of which he was a member arguing that its members had consistently provided counsel to the former president.
Continuing to defend himself and former cabinet members, Morwaeng stated such advice is not given in the open and people should know that.
“It is not the first time hearing this. I was in the cabinet, ga se ditshameko wa ikana gao tsena mo cabinet ga e re mo eleng gore gao tswa mo teng o na le mosadi o utlwa monate abo o re ne re le koo cabinet re gakolla tautona/ cabinet business is not a game it is serious you cannot go back home and tell your spouse about advices offered to the president,” Morwaeng stating how secretive cabinet business is.
Morwaeng indicated that there is sworn secrecy to cabinet business and pointed out if they did air out their advices in public, it would demean the cabinet business.
The former minister of state president stated that he fails to understand where the story emanates from as they did their roles diligently.
“Cabinet is not run like that I do not know if it's Masisi who told people that he was not advised but I know for a fact that he has not said so and we too did not say that,” he said.
He further argued that it is unfair for them to be blamed for the lose of BDP in the elections especially on grounds that the former president was not advised.
“People who are saying we did not advise the president, you are not doing well by him and he is the only one who can say that. So you are being unfair to my former boss,” he said.
Still on the matter, Morwaeng stated that the president of Botswana has enormous power suggesting that his (president's) word is final despite the advice he gets.
“I was in the cabinet yes and our role as members of the cabinet is to advise the president but the president has executive power. The president has so much power,” he said.
On contrary the former Molepolole North legislator stated that BDP lost elections due to many reasons and it cannot be that they did not advise the president as the cabinet.
