Sebogodi recently approached The Monitor for an interview stating she wanted to set the record straight. She stressed that people are misunderstanding her and at the same time ill-treated her due to unexplainable fires that have been trailing her over the past years, singling out her father as the cause of the fire. “When we were in Zimbabwe with Pastor Isaiah Gynaciao, he asked my father if he was a traditional doctor,” she said. “He responded by saying, yes. The pastor then told my father to throw away his stuff as they were the cause of the fires.” Sebogodi explained that this was after she had sought help from Gynacio’s church in Tsolamosese where she stayed for six months without fire eruption episodes. Following the prophecy on her father Calton Banda, Sebogodi stated they then returned to Botswana and still didn't experience any fires as they had been in the past.
However, Sebogodi revealed that just when she thought she had buried her fire problems they came back when she visited her father in South Africa. “I arrived safely at my father's place and spent the night there without any troubles. But the next day my father's child screamed from the toilet alerting us of the fire,” she said. Sebogodi explained that the fire situation persisted on other days which left her with many questions about why the fires were back as she had gone for months without experiencing them. “I was wondering why the fires were back and that is when I remembered Pastor Gynaciao’s prophecy when we were in Zimbabwe that my father is a traditional doctor and his acts result in these fires,” she said. Wondering if her father followed the instructions as the fires continued to persist, Sebogodi stated that she turned the house upside down to clarify if her father did throw away his stuff. “I searched the house when no one was there and whilst I was searching in the wardrobe I saw his traditional stuff that he was told to throw away. This proved to me that this is why the fires are back,” she said.
Sebogodi added that following the discovery she commuted back to Botswana and highlighted that since her return she has never experienced any fires. As she had thought she had left her problems in South Africa, she said another rumour erupted that Gynaciao had impregnated her which is far-fetched, according to her. “There was another lie that was pushed in social media by my father and Mma Larona that I am pregnant and Gynacio is the father, which is all lies. It is a lie. I can confidently say I am not pregnant,” she said. Asked to comment on the claims, Sebogodi’s father, Banda, refuted the allegations raised against him and did not take the blame for her daughters’ fires. “I go to a Zion church so I am not a sangoma. I am the prophet. I have been helping people from way back before I even knew (Kaone),” Banda said. Banda further said that he couldn't be held responsible for her daughter’s fires as he found her like that. “I never denied that I help people and this is not something that I will stop ever. Ke itlhela Kaone a ntse a loilwe nna (I found Kaone bewitched),” he said. Banda explained that he regrets the day he got himself involved with Sebogodi’s troubles as they only brought him insurmountable problems. Regarding the pregnancy allegations, Banda said that only Sebogodi knows the truth and time will tell. Though the relationship is strained between the two, Banda said Sebogodi will always remain his daughter. “As a father, my wish is to see Sebogodi healed and live well. I won't hold anything against her. She is still my daughter,” he said. Sebogodi’s fires can be traced back to the year 2017 when they were en route to Mahalapye when their car caught fire. That was the starting point of the fires up until she got help in recent times.
