Machaneng Police Station commander, Superintendent George Mabuta said one of the deceased's family members told the police that the old man retired for bed last Thursday at around 8pm when it started raining. He said the kin was shocked to wake up at around 5:50am to find that the wall of the mud hut had collapsed. 'The 37-year-old woman said they discovered that the wall had fallen and covered the deceased. They reported the matter to the police,' Mabuta said. 'After receiving the report, the police rushed to the scene of incident and found the old man trapped under the mud wall. The police managed to retrieve him, and took him to Machaneng hospital where he was certified dead on arrival by the doctors,' he added. Mabuta further stated that the woman said they had, on that fateful night, pleaded with the old man not to sleep in the mud house since it was raining heavily, but he refused stating that he couldn't sleep in the same house as the women.
