African Attire on Fleek returns to Francistown

It is scheduled to take place on Saturday, March 8 at the Molapo Leisure Gardens. In an interview with the event coordinator, David Letshwiti, he explained that it is aimed at celebrating African culture and fashion.
He further pointed out that vibrant celebration of African culture and fashion are cornerstone events in Botswana's cultural calendar, drawing attendees from across the nation and beyond. 'For our clientele and audience, the African Attire on Fleek event attracts a diverse audience, including fashion enthusiasts, cultural aficionados, and families eager to immerse themselves in a day of music, dance, and traditional cuisine. Past events have seen attendees from various regions, highlighting the event's widespread appeal and its role in promoting cultural unity,' he said. Speaking of the challenges and achievements they encountered over the years, he said organising an event of that magnitude presented challenges, particularly in terms of logistics and ensuring a seamless experience for attendees.
However, he emphasised that the dedication of the organising team has led to significant achievements such as growth in attendance as each year they have seen a substantial increase in participants, reflecting the event's growing popularity. Letshwiti also said their event enhanced cultural exchange, saying it successfully fostered a platform for cultural exchange, allowing attendees to appreciate the rich tapestry of African traditions. He added that African Attire on Fleek also promoted collaborations with local artists, vendors, and cultural groups have strengthened community ties and provided economic benefits to the region. Moreover, he stated that this year's line-up promises an unforgettable experience, featuring performances by renowned artists from Botswana and the broader African continent.
Those artists include the likes of Musa, Wave Rhyder, Mawelele, KhoiSan, Kabelo Tiro, Makosi and other artists from in and around Francistown. Local DJs will also be keeping the audience on the dance floor. Letshwiti said attendees could look forward to a fusion of traditional and contemporary music, dance performances, fashion showcases, and a variety of food stalls offering authentic African cuisine. Speaking of safety measure, he emphasised that the safety and well-being of attendees remain top priorities. In line with that, comprehensive security measures will be put in place, including collaboration with local law enforcement and private security firms. Additionally, he said health protocols will be observed in line with current guidelines to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience for all. 'Tickets for this year's event are currently on sale and have been met with enthusiastic demand.
Early bird tickets are available online and at select outlets, with options to accommodate various preferences: General admission (Yonkento Experience) is sold at P250 single, P400 double, Golden Circle (Xhosa Experience): P350 single, P600 double and backstage tickets are sold at P750 single, P1, 200 double Tickets can be purchased at Kelly's Closet, located at Ntshe House Traffic Lights in Francistown,' he said.
