Position: Extra Heavy Duty Mechanic
Location: North-West District, Botswana
Jay Cee Bee Plant Hire (Pty) Ltd t/a Shumba Plant Hire (Pty) Ltd invites job applications from suitable and qualified individuals for the position of Extra Heavy Duty Mechanic to join our dynamic team!
Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair heavy-duty equipment and machinery.
- Overhaul engines, gearboxes and differentials.
- Perform regular maintenance to ensure optimal performance.
- Diagnose mechanical issues and provide effective solutions.
- Conduct safety checks and ensure compliance with industry standards.
- Collaborate with the team to ensure timely and efficient service delivery.
- Attend call outs in remote locations.
- Be flexible to work on weekends.
- Undertake other duties assigned by the workshop manager.
Experience & Requirements:
- Proven minimum of 8 years’ experience as an Extra Heavy Duty Mechanic.
- Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, airbrakes and other systems and their components.
- Extensive experience in John Deere and ADE engines and gearboxes, Allison and ZF transmissions, hydraulics, calibrations, air brakes, jack hammers, rock breakers and mobile cranes of maximum 250 tons.
- Very good communication skills
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to details.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics.
- Strength and stamina for working with heavy equipment and in cramped or awkward positions.
- Ability to demonstrate adherence to established safety policies and procedures.
- The ability to think logically.
Qualifications
l A National Craft Certificate in Heavy Plant Mechanic
l A valid class B drivers’ license
