Machaneng police investigate murder, suicide

'Initially we received a report of a suicide case from Seruleng Lands after a 28-year-old man found his cousin hanging from a tree next to a kraal and reported the matter. Police rushed to the crime scene and discovered an unset message from the deceased's phone that read 'There is a girl I have killed' and his cousin helped the police to locate his girlfriend, a Form 1 dropout student,' he explained. Mabuta said along with the cousin, they drove to Shakwe village where on arrival they found his 15-year-old girlfriend lying motionless in a pool of blood with multiple stab wounds on her abdomen and a knife left beside her. He added that the two were taken to Mahalapye District Hospital where they were both certified dead on arrival by the doctors.
