The BFL released a statement over the weekend indicating that Zakhem had been formally charged for his conduct after GU’s recent game against BDF XI at the BPSC Stadium. “Having considered the evidence before them, BFL office of the chief prosecutor has decided to charge Nicholas Zakhem with four counts of misconduct, relating to allegations emanating from an incident that occurred after the FNB premiership on February 2, 2025,” BFL said. Zakhem is accused of attacking match officials at the end of the game. The matter will be heard on February 17 in Gaborone. In an interview with MmegiOnline, Zakhem said he is puzzled by the charges against him, as he does not see where his fault is. “Is an outcry about something a problem now? Basically, I am in control and I am not worried about anything,” Zakhem said. “We will wait for the law to take its course,” he added. Zakhem said he could not comment further as the matter is before judicial bodies. He, however, said he would provide all details at his scheduled hearing.
