The tournament will kick off on December 31 until January 16 next year.

Zebras were the first team to be drawn in Group D followed by the West African side, Benin. They will also face African giants and former African champions, Senegal. The remaining team drawn in Group D is Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). It will be Zebras' second appearance at the continental showpiece. The first time they qualified for AFCON was in 2012 under the tutelage of Stanley Tshosane, which was hosted by Equatorial Guinea and Gabon.

This time around they are under the guidance of South African gaffer, Morena Ramoreboli who was this past week given a contract. Ramoreboli took over from Da Rosa who quit the job in the middle of the qualifiers. Ramoreboli is seen as the perfect man for the job after he helped turn Jwaneng Galaxy into a force to reckon with. He also has vast knowledge about local football and local players.
