AECI Botswana (Pty) Ltd, an explosives and specialty chemicals company focused on providing products and services to a broad spectrum of customers in mining, manufacturing and agricultural sectors, has the following vacancies at Motheo Copper Mine and Jwaneng Debswana Mine:

1. SITE MANAGER – MOTHEO COPPER MINE (PERMANENT)

*Core Responsibilities

*Manage and oversee the Explosives Supply Contract

*To be the Contracts’ Custodian for the business

*Proactively manage stakeholder relations by liaising and engaging with the customer on a daily basis

*To enforce the company’s operating standards

*Provide guidance, support and leadership in order to achieve the company’s planned targets

*Overall cost management for the site

*Manage company assets and ensure asset optimisation

*To select, assign, lead, coach and manage the operations, maintenance and technical teams

*Manage capital projects

*Site stock and inventory management

*Development and implementation of the World Class System

*Continuously investigate opportunities for business improvement

*Preparation of relevant management and customer reports

*Explosives magazine and logistics management

*Management of the SHEQ function and ensure legal and statutory compliance

*Implementation and enforcement of governance, policies and procedures

*Implementation and enforcement of company values

*Manage the development of blast designs, drive implementation and ensure competent operation of blasting tools

Qualifications, Experience and Skills Requirements

*The incumbent should have at least the following:

*At least a Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering or Mining-related discipline

*At least seven (7) years’ experience in an open pit mining or related industry, at least three (3) of which are at management level

*Knowledge of AECI open pit electronic blasting system is an added advantage

*Be in possession of a valid driver’s License

*Be a Botswana Citizen

*Be in possession of a valid Open Pit Blasting Licence

*Possession of the Explosives Engineer’s Certificate or blasting technical certificate is an added advantage

*Must be fluent in both Setswana and English

*Good understanding of the Explosives Act and, the Mines, Works, Quarries and Machinery Act (MQWM) and other relevant legislative requirements

2. TECHNICAL OFFICER – DEBSWANA JWANENG MINE (PERMANENT)

Core Responsibilities

*Provide blasting technical support to the customer

*Drive and promote safe and appropriate use of Explosives at all times

*Assist Senior Technical Officer in conducting technical projects, new business projects, and all value add projects

*Generating Technical Post Blast analysis and reports

*Conduct product conversions and introductions where applicable

*Conduct research and generate recommendations to customers for improved and safe blasting practices

*Assist Senior Technical Officer to communicate and interpret the blast design data to customer and ensure competent operation of the blasting tools

*Liaise with the customer on relevant technical issues

*Assist Senior Technical Officer to conduct technically related training and occasional refreshers to the customer for safe and efficient use of explosives

*Attend to customer complaints, problems and issues relating to quality and performance of the products

*Product Quality management for the business

*Validate explosives stock records

*Product demand forecast preparation

*Perform relevant SAP ECC roles

*Assist the Site Manager to manage the World Class system implementation and its application to his area of responsibility and constantly strive towards continuous improvement

*Assist Management in implementing company values

*Ensure that all Standards relating to explosives and their application and quality are adhered to at all times and regularly audited

Qualifications, Experience and Skills Requirements

*The incumbent should have at least the following:

*At least a Bachelor’s Degree in Mining Engineering or Mining related discipline ∙ At least 3 years’ experience in an Explosives Handling Open pit Mining environment, two (2) of which were at a similar or higher role *Strong blasting technical skills

*Be in possession of a valid Class B driver’s License

*Be a Botswana Citizen

*Have computer skills

*Be in possession of a valid Open Pit Blasting Licence

*Presentation and report writing skills

*Must be fluent in both Setswana and English

*Good understanding of the Explosives Act and, the Mines, Quarries, Works and Machinery Act (MQWM) and other relevant legislative requirements

*Knowledge of and experience in AECI products and/or certificate in any of AECI technical training Behavioural

3. OPERATIONS ASSISTANT – DEBSWANA JWANENG MINE (FIXED TERM CONTRACT)

Core Responsibilities

*SHEQ recognition and compliance

*Housekeeping duties for the Mobile Manufacturing Units (MMU’s) and plant as required by company procedures

*Adhering to all safety procedures as per the company rules and regulations ∙ MMU hose handling during charging

*On-bench explosives quality checks

*Be a spotter for the MMU both on and off the bench

*Assisting the MMU Operator with all the MMU operation related duties

*Housekeeping in and around the area of responsibility

*Loading and offloading of explosives at the magazines

*Assisting the maintenance team during MMU breakdowns, calibrations and services

Qualifications, Experience and Skills Requirements

*The incumbent should have the following:

*At least a Cambridge O’ Level/ BGCE certificate or equivalent

*At least two years’ experience in a Prime, Load, Tie and Shoot (PLTS) Open Pit environment ∙ Valid Class B Driver’s licence

*Possession of Class C Driver’s Licence is an added advantage

*Valid Open Pit Blasting Licence

*Botswana Citizen

*Must be fluent in both Setswana and English

*Knowledge of and experience in AECI products is an added advantage

*Experience in open pit mining

4. BLASTING ASSISTANT X 7 – DEBSWANA JWANENG MINE (FIXED TERM CONTRACT)

Core Responsibilities

*SHEQ recognition and compliance

*On-the-bench blast preparation and explosives quality check duties

*Loading and off-loading of explosives at the magazines and on-bench

*Housekeeping duties for the plant, explosives magazines and vehicles as required by company procedures

*Adhering to all safety procedures as per the company rules and regulations ∙ Assisting the Blaster with all the blasting operations duties

*Blast pattern demarcation

*Housekeeping on-bench, in explosives vehicles and in and around the magazines

*Safe keeping of blasting equipment and tools

Qualifications, Experience and Skills Requirements

*The incumbent should have the following:

*At least a Cambridge O’ Level/ BGCE certificate or equivalent

*At least two years’ experience in a Prime, Load, Tie and Shoot (PLTS) Open Pit environment ∙ Valid Class B Driver’s License

*Possession of Class C Driver’s Licence is an added advantage

*Valid Open Pit Blasting Licence

*Botswana Citizen

*Must be fluent in both Setswana and English

*Knowledge of and experience in AECI products is an added advantage

*Experience in open pit blasting
