The Council took part in two prize-giving ceremonies at Taung Primary School, themed 'Mindset Change: The Key To Academic Excellence', in Gaborone on September 13, 2024, officiated by the Registrar Dr Raphael Dingalo and Nare Sereto Junior Secondary School on September 20 officiated by BOTEPCO’s Director, Corporate Services Ntsholeng Thabana.

Delivering the Occasional Speech at Taung Primary School, BOTEPCO Registrar, Dingalo, highlighted that the event celebrated academic excellence and the critical shift in mindset needed to achieve success. Dingalo underlined the imperative of elevating the teaching profession through bodies like BOTEPCO, aimed at supporting educators in steering students towards excellence. Emphasising the distinction between fixed and growth mindsets, he illustrated how beliefs impact one's trajectory towards success or failure, advocating for a growth mindset that values the learning process, embraces challenges, and fosters continuous development through positive language.

BOTEPCO’s registrar urged parents and society to prioritise acknowledging effort over mere results to instil growth mindsets in children. He portrayed mindset as the key lens shaping individuals' perceptions of challenges and opportunities, crucial for lifelong learning and adaptation in a rapidly evolving world. Viewing academic accomplishments as stepping stones rather than final destinations, he highlighted the potential for perpetual growth and enhancement. Consequently, he underscored the transformative influence of mindset shifts in moulding the future of education and igniting excellence among both educators and learners. In conclusion, he reinforced the significance of embracing mindset transformation for personal and national development, stressing the values of resilience, hard work, and faith in one's capacity for success in all pursuits.

In his opening statement, Michael Mokute, the Head of Taung Primary School emphasised the importance of recognising outstanding performance in both academic and extracurricular pursuits, urging students to show a strong determination to work diligently for success. Mokute also advised students to cultivate qualities that steer them away from disruptive behaviour. Despite the challenges posed by COVID-19, he highlighted the school's consistently high performance over the years, attributing this achievement to the dedicated efforts of teachers, staff, students, and the community.

BOTEPCO handed donations that included essential educational resources such as printers, office laptops, info packs, and school bags with amenities which are expected to significantly enhance the teaching and learning experience at Taung Primary School and Nare Sereto Junior Secondary School.

Speaking to this publication BOTEPCO’s Manager for Corporate Affairs, Mercy Rebaone Thebe stated that two events signified a significant milestone in the Council’s operational plan, emphasising inclusivity in CSI projects, and a commitment to seizing present opportunities while shaping a future defined by growth, empathy, and unity. BOTEPCO, further highlighted that through these initiatives, BOTEPCO aims to make a lasting positive impact on the lives of the Teaching Fraternity and the communities they serve. The council’s dedication to social responsibility and education continues to drive its efforts to create a better, more inclusive future for all.
