Duties & Responsibilities:
*Render technical support to New Installations, Modernisations and Existing Installations.
*Practice Quality and Safety principles throughout the area of involvement.
*Provide Hi-tech and Lo-tech training for and on behalf of the Training Department, Support Service to other Departments.
*Technical support as well as coaching of all the service technicians.
*Provide technical support and assistance to New Installations, Modernisation and Existing Installations with regards to commissioning, recommissioning and troubleshooting of installations.
*Ensure that all commissioning and recommissioning of New Installations and Modernisation as well as the recommissioning of troublesome Maintenance Installations are adjusted to Schindler standards and norms.
*Ensure that all circuit diagrams accurately reflect the ‘as built’ history of New and Modernisation Installations.
*To Plan and execute site readiness for NI
*To ensure material is delivered to the site timeously
*To attend site meetings with the Main Contract/Owner/Developer when required
*To ensure all Safety files, Site Handbook is on site before commencement on site.
*To Carry out Pre-SAIS with Sub-contractor and ensure all items are complete before SAIS inspection
*Planning with SIAS Inspector dates and times for inspection
*Assist SAIS inspector with getting all tools to the site (Weights for Drop test)
*Departmental visions are agreed and reviewed periodically to maintain clear directions in the short and medium term for the Construction Departments in line with Company policy.
*Strategies are agreed, reviewed and where necessary adapted to meet Company goals.
*Action plans are initiated and are conducted to their logical conclusion to achieve objectives and goals
*Company values are maintained when conducting everyday tasks.
*Adequately qualified and competent sub-contractors are in place to achieve Company targets.
*Clearly defined responsibilities and authorities for carrying out strategies, plans and actions are delegated, and suitable systems and controls are in place to monitor, align and rectify work processes.
*The Company structure of formal relationships is in place that determines how work is divided and coordinated and how communication is affected.
Quality & Safety Principals:
*Practice Quality and Safety principles throughout the Field Engineering process in order to enhance operating and control systems, resulting in improved Customer Satisfaction and Customer Relations.
*Administer accounts receivable and payable, ensuring that they are correctly allocated and loaded on the computer system by due dates.
*Participate in budget allocating and support all Departments in the monitoring of income/expenses and operating costs.
*Enhance public safety by ensuring that installations are safe for usage in accordance to SABS 1545.
Training:
*Present Hi-tech and Lo-tech courses for the Service Technicians with support from the Training Centre as and when requested to do so.
*Afford informal on-the-job technical training to installation/maintenance personnel during commissioning.
Limits of Authority
*The Field Engineer/Installation Manager has the authority and organizational freedom to discharge these responsibilities efficiently, effectively and diligently.
*The Field Engineer is not authorized to make decisions or become involved in any matters falling outside the scope of work reflected in this job description.
*The Field Engineer will be held accountable for the efficiency of his duties and responsibilities, thereby ensuring the curtailment of costs and expenses incurred.
*Signing powers are as reflected in the procedure SFA-04-010, ‘Limits of Authority’. From time to time, the Field Engineer may be required to carry out tasks other than those specified in this job description. Providing these tasks fall within the scope and jurisdiction of this position, these tasks shall be carried out diligently
Construction Management
*Leading and Managing activities so that Installation activities for New Installations and Modernisation contracts are carried out to the satisfaction of our Clients within the estimated costs, using methods and applying workmanship conforming to Company Procedures, Specifications and Standards.
*Be involved in the drawing up of Departmental budgets, forecasts and plans as required from time to time. Regularly elevate the Departmental operations, Systems and Procedures, and initiate improvement measures where necessary.
