The Village Magistrate David Nkau has granted popular prophet Goitsekgosi Mojadigo bail following his request last week Thursday.

Mojadigo is accused of defilement. Mojadigo’s lawyer Samuel Plaatjie argued that there are really no grounds to keep on remanding the prophet behind bars. He said they failed to extend his remand as he has been in and out of prison.

Meanwhile the state argued that if Mojadigo is granted bail by the magistrate he will interfere with the investigations by interfering with the witnesses who will play a pivotal role in the outcome of the case. However, Magistrate Nkau was of the view that the state failed to show cause why the prophet should be further remanded in prison when granting the prophet bail.

“The state’s argument was that the prophet will interfere with the witnesses but there is no how accused Mojadigo will interfere with the witnesses because he has been amidst those witnesses before and that it took a whole month to arrest him,” Nkau said when granting Mojadigo bail.

Mojadigo is expected to return to the Village Magistrate Court for his status hearing on August 29 at 0830am.
