Four teens to represent Botswana in Nepal

 

The young ambassadors are Shazia John, Apple Modiakgotla, Angela Hannah Breakspear and Katlego Matheakgomo.

Part of the quartet's mission in Nepal is to promote Botswana’s rich culture and heritage on a global platform.

In an interview with Arts&Culture, the young girls shared their thoughts on what it means to be selected as the Teen Tourism Ambassadors for Botswana. John expressed her enthusiasm, stating that being chosen as an ambassador is a great honour and an opportunity to make a positive impact on Botswana’s tourism industry. For her part, Breakspear emphasised the importance of representing her country and sharing Botswana’s culture and history with the world. Matheakgomo highlighted the recognition of her talent and hard work as a model, showcasing her dedication to promoting Botswana’s beauty and attractions.

“With a passion for promoting Botswana’s tourism industry, we have outlined our plans to showcase the country’s natural beauty, wildlife, and diverse cultures during the competition. From highlighting Botswana’s rare diamonds to educating others about the rich heritage and tourist attractions, we are dedicated to raising awareness about Botswana’s unique offerings on a global platform,” said Matheakgomo. Matheakgomo further stated that as they prepare to represent their country in Nepal, they are determined to make a lasting impact and promote Botswana’s culture and heritage on a global stage.

Their manager, Naval John explained that during their trip to Nepal, the young girls will have the chance to learn and grow as individuals as they will interact with other ambassadors from different countries, exchange cultural experiences, and develop important life skills such as adaptability and resilience. John said this experience will not only broaden their horizons but also provide them with valuable insights into promoting tourism in Botswana. In addition to promoting Botswana’s tourism industry, the ambassadors hope to learn from their experience in Nepal.

They look forward to exploring the stunning Himalayan mountains, learning about Nepal’s cultural heritage, and gaining insights into sustainable tourism practices. By using their experience as Teen Tourism Ambassadors, they aim to inspire others to embrace their cultures, promote tourism, and showcase the beauty of their respective countries. Outside of their roles as Teen Tourism Ambassadors, these talented individuals have a range of hobbies and interests that showcase their diverse talents. From dancing and cheerleading to acting and poetry, these ambassadors bring a unique blend of skills and creativity to their roles. With their passion, dedication, and talent, they are set to shine bright and showcase the best of Botswana to the world.
