In a statement today, the BFA said it was disappointed with the DC’s outcome. Sebego was suspended following charges of misconduct and breaches of the BFA constitution and was dragged before the disciplinary committee for allegedly bringing the game of football into disrepute. “While it is noted that Mr Sebego was not acquitted, it is crucial for the public to understand that that dismissal of the case was based on procedural grounds, prompting the BFA to appeal.” Defending their decision to appeal, the BFA said the merits of Sebego’s case were yet to be heard. “It is imperative to clarify that the dismissal of the case does not imply an adjudication of the merits.

The substantive issues surrounding Mr. Sebego’s alleged misconduct have yet to be heard,” the statements reads in part. Sebego is tipped to challenge the incumbent, Maclean Letshwiti in elections due to be held later this year. However, the former BFA president told MmegiSport recently on the side lines of the Botswana Football League (BFL) shareholders meeting in Palapye early this year that there were other factors to consider before he makes a final decision. "I have run for the BFA presidency and lost on two occasions and I thought maybe it’s not something for me. I have been persuaded by some people to run, but I have to consult my family," Sebego said.
